Well its harvest time. I planted, watched, weeded and watered the growth, but God gave the increase. Absolutely amazing. I’m like Adam up in here!!! I think every preacher ought to grow a garden. It is both humbling and empowering.
It’s eating time. I’m picking fruit left and right. I’ve got squash, peppers, eggplant, snow peas, jalapeños, habaneras, cucumbers, strawberries, onions, lettuce, herbs and okra. My greatest prizes though, are my tomatoes. There’s nothing like homegrown “maters”. They’ll make you want to slap your local grocer. And God blessed me to grow bunches.
I had so many tomatoes that I shared bags with my parents, my neighbors, some members and even sent some to Dollie Crenshaw of Oklahoma City. That’s right. The Brooklynite preacher sent homegrown tomatoes from NYC to the OKC. Go figure.
There are three thoughts that create joy from this event:
1. This shows those outside NYC, who only believe what they see on T.V., that Brooklyn is more than rappers, police, snow and concrete.
2. Good things come out of hard places in this world created by God.
3. When you have a heart ready to share the blessings of God, He just gives you more and more.
What are you growing in your life and what are you going to do with it when it comes to fruit?
